Karel's Kale Chippies
Makes 1 bag
3 bunches of kale
Seasoning (pick one below! or make both)
S&P
Salt & Pepper
Olive Oil (cold-pressed, organic)
Super Special Spice
Olive Oil (cold-pressed, organic)
Nutritional Yeast
Chili Powder (omited in some batches, makes it too spicy)
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Paprika
Salt & Pepper
Pre-directions:
I highly suggest triple washing your kale before and tearing them into smaller pieces (2-3 inches) with your hands and placing in a bowl. I run it through my salad spinner before starting to make sure they are completely dry.
Figure out what flavor you want. I made 1 batch of S&P and 3 batches of Super Special Spice. Needless to say, it took me nearly five hours to finish.
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
- Place kale into a large bowl. Drizzle 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil and toss with hands to coat evenly.
- Sprinkle your spices and toss with hands to coat evenly.
- Place each piece of kale on a cookie sheet. Make sure there is only one layer so it bakes evenly.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- Rotate pan and bake for another 12-15 minutes.
- Take out. Make sure it is baked through, when you bite into it, it should be super crunchy.
- Let sit for 3 minutes to cool before serving.
- Enjoy! (:
