Happy Wednesday! Today's recipe is one of my sunny day essentials. It is cooling on a hot day and it tastes delish.

Watermelon Juice
  • 1 juicy watermelon (I used a small one - it made two jars)
  • juice of one lemon
  • water
Put sliced up watermelon through the juicer. I always run a little water through it at the end to get every last juice. Then squeeze 1 lemon and mix. Enjoy! (:

My original recipe.

What a crazy weekend I had! Lots of positive vibes and high energy. It is finally nice to wind down and relax. Here is a little collection of motivation for your week ahead (:

April is coming to a close. What a journey it has been!
Join me on Saturday and Sunday for some fun. Thank you to everybody that joined me! I will be publishing May's classes soon. (:

Another Wednesday, another juice! I was inspired by last week's twisted lemonade juice which prompted me to create this juice recipe when I saw the 8lbs of oranges in the fruit bowl.

Orange Splash Juice
  • 3 carrots, peeled
  • 2 oranges
  • half cucumber, peeled if not organic
  • ginger, 1 in piece
  • handful of spinach (or any leafy greens)
  • a splash of water
I usually end all my juices with a splash of water through the juicer to clean out and push the extra  juice. I hope you enjoy this juice! This green juice is perfect for those who are just beginning. It is sweet enough with the oranges and carrots but you still get the green punch!

This is an original recipe.

You read it! I am doing a juice cleanse aka super intense Juiced On Hump Day! I have actually been wanting to do a juice cleanse for quite some time now. I believe I have done one every year for the past three years and I am desperately needing one. There has been a lot of controversy with juice cleansing but I use it as a way to reset my body's eating habits and cleansing it out. For the past three years, I have noticed how much energy  I get and how it helps my mind resent itself to eat healthy food.

I am going to be honest. This past year has not been the best eating year for me. I have been experimenting with different foods, especially diary and eggs. I have been vegan for two years and I have fallen off the wagon. I realize that diary does not agree with my body but eggs does not have a bad effect. Yet, I still eat both. I am using this cleanse to reset my mind and body of how I have been eating. I have had too much carbs and fried foods lately and I am starting to take the toll.

What I do I want to get out of this cleanse? In the end, I just want to reset as I have said before. It has helped me in the past and I am ready to jump right back into my healthy lifestyle. I have been planning on doing a cleanse since last month and haven't been ready as far as getting my ingredients together and doing research. Now, I am ready! (:

As a blog goes, you get to follow me on my juicing journey! I will be posting on what I had during the day and how I felt, etc. I will probably post days together as opposed to everyday. This is the first time I am publicly posting about my juice cleanse so be nice please!!! LOVE YOU GUYS!!

Another Monday, another collection of motivation and inspiration. Hope you all have a lovely New Moon!

I hope you all have a beautiful and magical week. Lots and lots of love and light to you beautiful sunbeams! <3

One of my favorite days in the week is Sunday. It is a day I set aside for myself to truly reflect on my week and take time to rejuvenate and relax. I believe that taking time for yourself is crucial. Whether it be a full day, a couple hours, or even 10 minutes. Take time to take a breather and do something for you. We are always so busy throughout our weeks that we often forget our own well being. I challenge you to stop what you are doing and do something that makes you truly happy.
On Sunday, I take my time to create intentions for my week and relax. I start my day off with yoga (either teaching yoga or practicing yoga). I often spend the next couple hours socializing with friends or getting lunch with family. Whatever it is, I make the effort to be social as it is so easy for me to lock myself up in my bedroom and be an introvert. Cultivating positive relationships is really important. After I have had a healthy meal (and of course had a green juice), I go outside.

Current outside set up (:

My outside essentials include:
  • a billion blankets cushioned with yoga mats underneath for a comfortable laying area
  • drink of choice (green juice, iced tea, water, kombucha!)
  • bluetooth speakers for some relaxing and fun music
  • laptop for blog writing or watching YouTube videos
  • my big bag of stuff (more on this later? It is filled with planners and notebooks and projects I am currently working on)
  • bikini and coconut oil for getting that daily dose of vitamin D (which I am apparently deficient in...)
  • phone
  • candle, incense, essential oils for creating a mindful space (plus it smells good! usually at night I have citronella burning to keep the mosquitos away)
  • christmas lights only for night time to have ambient lighting that is dim enough to create a calming space but bright enough if I need to read or write something.
I usually proceed to stay outside until it gets dark. I am out here between the hours of 2pm to 8pm. I do what I need to do outside. Sometimes I even bring baby Ziggy in his travel cage so he can get some sun. Other times, my parents join me and we have dinner outside. This time is truly for myself. It is my time to reflect and work on the things I want to do. Once it gets too dark, I head inside and clean my room. By Sunday, my room gets crazy messy and I take the time to reorganize and put my clothes away.

Sunday is my day to reset and bliss out. The sun has been out the last couple weeks which motivates me to head outside. I encourage you to find time in your busy schedule to reset yourself and get outside and relax.

Happy New Moon, friends! Enjoy the outside today.

I had this idea the other day and decided to try it. I was never the kid to try to make my own lemonade so I was completely clueless! I had a friend try my final recipe and she LOVED it. I hope you guys do too!

Twisted Green Lemonade
  • 4 lemons, juiced (I used a citrus juicer)
  • 4-5 Cups of water
  • honey or agave - depends how sweet you want it
Make the following green juice separately
  • large handful of spinach
  • 1 large cucumber
  • handful of wheatgrass
  • 1 inch piece of ginger
Then pour the green juice into your lemon batch and mix! Serve over ice.

I definitely think this is a pretty enough drink to serve at parties. If you want the cool layered effect like the one in my picture, put the lemon batch in a pitcher first then pour the green juice over it. When it is time to serve over ice, mix!

I hope you enjoy this recipe. It is completely original and I am really proud of the outcome. I absolutely love and and I would drink it everyday if I could!

Happy Monday friends! I had such a relaxing weekend, I hope you did too! It is Monday, which means another little collection of motivation and inspiration for our week ahead.

Q: I was wondering how you started doing yoga. I checked into classes at the gym I belong to and they only have advanced classes at this time and I checked other places and it's super expensive especially for something I've never tried therefore I don't know if I like it enough to spend that money. [From ]
A: I started doing yoga in high school. I chose yoga as my P.E. class. Yoga at studios can definitely be expensive. Check out your local yoga studios and see if they have new student specials. I went to one where it was $29 for a month. I went to 5 classes a week and felt like I definitely got my money's worth in two classes. Studio hop when you can! Also check out your city's community center and your local gym might have intro classes too! OR you can enroll at your local junior college, they usually have yoga classes too. In my experience, a class at the JC is $100 for the entire semester. If paying any amount is not in your budget, check out YouTube. There are tons of free yoga classes online. (:

Q: Hi there! I want to get into yoga really bad, but when i try i get so frustrated. It hurts, not in a good way, like when i hold the pose everything is stressed and shaking. And it doesnt relax me mentally, i just get so upset. I feel like I'm doing something wrong. I can't even do a warrior without my blood boiling. I sweat more trying yoga than i do during my normal workout. Have you ever had this problem? What do i do? I want to do this so badly, it looks so fun. Thanks for listening! <3 [From ]
A: If it hurts, do not continue. There is a difference between stretching and shooting pains. If it hurts stop. You have to ease yourself in. I do not know your body more than you do so I can only tell you from my experience. When this happens to me in some poses, it is because I have never used my body in that way before. For example, in splits, you have to really have open hips. You cannot force yourself in the pose or you can really injure yourself. Ease yourself in and don't get frustrated. It is just the start and you will only get better! Check out an intro to yoga class if you can and talk to a yoga teacher. I wish you the best in your yoga journey. I am so excited to see your progress. (:

Q: What inspired you to get into yoga and want to connect more to the earth? [From dopehippievibes]
A: I started practicing yoga in high school. I got back into it because I was really unhealthy in college. It became more of life practice than a work out for me. I got addicted to the relaxation and the yoga high. I loved it! I just kept practicing and saw my progress. It was something I felt like I was good at and that I felt that I can really stick with.
I was honestly not that connected to the Earth. Nature used to freak me out because of the bugs and animals. I started to do my research when I became vegetarian and then decided that I wanted to life a more sustainable life. The Earth became more important to me over time. When I went to yoga teacher training in Costa Rica, there was a heavy emphasis on honoring and being kind to the Earth. I truly embraced Mother Nature while I was in Costa Rica. It is hard not to! It is so beautiful waking up to the howler monkeys and your bedroom overlooking the Pacific ocean with the door coming out to the lush jungle. I have dedicated my life honoring nature and Mother Earth. I honor the moon, and it's cycles. It is interesting to see how those cycles truly correlate to my daily life and my energy. Being connected to nature was not something that came naturally to me. But as my relationship with Mother Nature flourished, I find myself more peaceful. #zenlife (;

Happy #HumpDay! Here on Yoga with Karel, we are juicing on Wednesdays!
One of my goals is to start juicing again. I used to juice a lot when I was in college and I really want to get back into it because: 1. It gives me energy; 2. It counts as a serving or two of veggies (depending on how much greens you put in it; and 3. It is so delicious!

I am challenging you to start juicing with me! Let's keep each other accountable. Every Wednesdays, check in here for new juice recipes and other juice related things. I will be posting my pictures on my Instagram - follow me! Tag your pictures with #JuicedOnHumpDay.

Juicing is so easy and so fast! All you need is your fruit and veggies and a juicer. I use the Breville Fountain Crush Masticating Slow Juicer. But have no fear! If you don't have a juicer, you can still juice. All you need is a blender and a nut bag (or a strainer or even panty hose). Just throw in your ingredients in a blender, blend thoroughly with water. Strain through a nut bag and squeeze! Or you can just put it through a strainer.

So in honor of our first #JuicedOnHumpDay, here is my absolute favorite juice recipe and one I juiced today.

Green Mint Cooler
  • 1 large cucumber (peeled if not organic)
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 pear (can omit if you don't want it too sweet)
  • handful of spinach
  • a few sprigs of fresh mint
  • a nub of ginger
  • juice of one lemon (I did this separately)

For a chance to be featured, squeeze some of your favorite juice recipes in the comments and I will give them a try! Happy Juicing!

Disclaimer: My recipes will never have celery in them. Please add them in your juices whenever you want! I personally do not like the taste of celery so I never put it in my juices.
